I want to be like an open book easy to read, clear, no hidden message, so others can find Jesus easily. I to become more like Him so that others will be drawn to Him.
My Fathers Book
Lord make me an open book.
Where You are found when others look.
May each page of my life.
Show of One who is with me in joy and strife.
I pray each picture they will see,
will be of me becoming more like thee.
I pray that I will be well worn and used.
May what I say always be the words You choose.
And when I can be read no more.
May this book cause others to hunger for the One I adore.
Cookbooks
There are zillions of cookbooks in the world today. I love cookbooks! I am amazed that just as there are zillions of cookbooks, their are zillions of cookbook categories. The ones I like best are very old Fannie Farmers, old Betty Crocker's, any kind of country cookbook, Mexican, and Oriental cookbooks. But alas I am trying to loose weight so now I am getting into diet cookbooks. My favorites are all the Weight Watcher cookbooks from the very old ones to the new ones, and wholesome cookbooks by Prevention / Rodale Press. Most the time you can pretty much tell what's in a cookbook by who wrote it. I know that Betty Crocker has food that is delicious, everyday fare, and fatting. I know that Weight Watchers has delicious, sometimes fancy, low fat, low calorie food. Cookbooks usually reflect the authors view on health or taste in foods. I like cookbooks with colored pictures, even though my finished products seldom look like the picture. That's ok it still taste good. I also like cookbooks with easy to follow recipes. I am sort of like a cookbook. My author is God, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit. I hopefully reflect their views and tastes. I hope that I am transparent enough that people will always know where I stand, who I am, and what to expect. Most of all I hope I am transparent enough for them to see more of Jesus and less of me. I hope like the colored pictures of a cookbook I set good examples, so others can get an idea of what life in and with Jesus is like. I know I am far from perfect, I don't look like the picture of Jesus that I have in my heart and spirit. Yet I believe the Holy Spirit is able to get me closer to resembling that image every day, if I talk to Him, listen, and obey. I hope I am an easy to follow recipe. I mean I hope I present Jesus in such a simple way that everyone has an easy time finding Him, knowing Him, and receiving Him. As for what flavor of cookbook am I ? I must be a country cookbook fruity, meaty, salty, full of milk, honey. Some of my recipes are mingled with water, wine and oil. I hope a hearty loaf of bread is found in me and more.
Looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith, part of Hebrews 12:2, Therefore, whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God. 1 Corinthians 10:31, Imitate me, just as I also imitate Christ. 1 Corinthians 11:1, For I know whom I have believed and am persuaded that He is able to keep what I have committed to Him until that day. part of Timothy 1:12, But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My Name He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all things that I said to you. John 14:26 Be salt Matthew 5:13, give babes milk 1 Peter 2:2, give the mature meat Hebrews 5:14, give water John 7:38, give honey Proverbs 16:24, offer fruit Galatians 5:22-23, offer oil Psalm 133:1-3, offer bread and wine 1 Corinthians 11:23-34. I put bread and wine last because people sometimes forget to offer spiritual bread and wine, which is the Gospel Story (the great commission).
