Prayer, praise, bible study, and time with God. "It's the right thing to do." and "There is no wrong time to do it." But a spiritual breakfast of prayer, praise, bible study and time with God can sure make for a better day! I hope I don't skip this breakfast very often!
His Nearness
All day long I seek You.
Needing guidance and care.
All day Long You are faithful and true.
Always there to mend me when I need repair.
All day long my spirit is turned toward You like a child with up turned face.
Giving thanks and praise to You for Your love and grace.
You always hear me when I cry.
You answer every prayer.
You always see me when I try.
Your love always lets me know Your there.
All day long my spirit is turned toward You like a child with up turn face.
Giving thanks and praise to You for Your love and grace.
It's The Right Thing To Do
Quaker Oats used this slogan for one of their commercials. I thought about why oatmeal is a good thing to eat. Oatmeal is suppose to lower bad cholesterol and therefore help protect the heart. It has some vitamins in it that we need to be healthy. It has fiber that we need to clean out our systems, which also is suppose to lower risk of a certain cancer. It is a carbohydrate therefore it is suppose to give me energy. It is warm and filling. It is usually served at breakfast which is suppose to be a meal we shouldn't skip. As a Christian I too have something in common with oatmeal. Made you laugh! Think about it. The right thing to do is not miss my morning spiritual feeding (prayer and or devotions, time with God). That is a very important meal that I shouldn't skip! Prayer, and bible study and time with God protects my heart and lessens the occurrence of sin in my life. It also keeps me focused on God and doing the right thing. The right choices, decisions, the right thing towards others, and in general every day living. Prayer, bible study, time with God, and praise is what I need to keep me spiritually healthy and my relationship with God and others healthy too. It also keeps me going to Jesus for constant cleansing. Sin is not the only thing I need cleansing from. My mind constantly needs washing and renewing, things that I hear and see all day as the world bombards me with stuff has some dirt that needs to be removed (I do live on this planet). There are other areas that need cleansing too and the Lord reveals them to me and we deal with them as they come up. Some areas if they didn't get cleaned out could very well eat me up like a cancer. Prayer, praise, bible study, and time with God always seems to energize me and usually makes my day go happier and smoother than it would if I had skipped my spiritual breakfast. My spiritual breakfast warms my soul and hopefully gives me a warmth towards others that shows in loving and caring ways. Spiritual breakfast is always satisfying because nothing satisfies like God and His word. I pray that my spiritual breakfast is always filling me with more of Him and the Holy Spirit. Spiritual breakfast is "The right thing to do." It can also help me to "Do the right thing." Unlike oatmeal prayer, praise, bible study, and time with God is "The right thing to do." and "There is no wrong time to do it."
Give ear to my words, O Lord, consider my meditation. Give heed to the voice of my cry, my King and my God, for to You I will pray. My voice You shall hear in the morning, O Lord; in the morning I will direct it to You, and I will look up. Psalm 5:1-4, O God, You are my God; early will I seek You; my soul thirsts for You; my flesh longs for You in a dry and thirsty land where there is no water. So I have looked for You in the sanctuary, to see Your power and Your glory. Because Your loving kindness is better than life, my lips shall praise You. Thus I will lift up my hands in Your name. My soul shall be satisfied as with marrow and fatness, and my mouth shall praise You with joyful lips. When I remember You on my bed, I meditate on You in the night watches. Because You have been my help, therefore in the shadow of Your wings I will rejoice. My soul follows close behind You; Your right hand upholds me. Psalm 63:1-8
