I must identify who and what I am fighting so I can know how to fight and what to fight with. I must not be so single or narrow minded or of such poor vision that I don't see the attack on more than one front going on all at the same time.
Fighters Prayer
Lord keep me ever alert and ready to fight.
Put Your armor upon me. Fill me with Your light.
Teach me Your ways write Your words upon my heart.
Cause me to choose Your ways and from Your will never to depart.
May I bring You glory, honor and praise all my days.
May others find You in all my ways.
Let me not fight only on my own behalf.
But cause me to fight for others that they too may keep to Your path.
Know What Your Fighting
In the world of gardening it is very helpful to know what your fighting. Like am I fighting weeds? Am I fighting cut worms, beetles, aphids, or some other pest? Am I fighting gophers? Or poor soil? When I can identify what your fighting, then I can best determine how to fight. I can then use the proper tools, equipment, etcetera to fight with. Sometimes I am fighting on more than one thing all at the same time. I often look in gardening books about how to deal with each thing. This goes for Spiritual fighting as well. I use to think satan only attacked me on only one front at a time. But now I know He attacks on many fronts and all at the same time. By fronts I mean weak areas. To fight well I must identify all the different places and ways he is attacking. Also I must identify what is attacking me. Such as is it demonic? Is it my mind or my flesh? Is it vanity, pride, ego etcetera? Who and what am I fighting? How is it attacking me? How does God's word recommend I fight it? I also pray about what I am fighting (for me it's not really prayer because I talk out loud to God about the problem and I don't say amen when I'm done talking I just listen for His answer). The bottom line is I do get down to fighting. I also learned that every time I over come something doesn't mean I should kick back and relax. Because to do that would mean I would let my guard down, and that would create a new opening where I could be attacked. One important thing I have to keep in mind is I have free will. Satan, my mind, flesh, demons, etcetera can manipulate me into position to make the wrong choice but, they cannot take away my free will. This thought to me gives me a little more strength, especially as I try to keep my will in line with God's will. It reminds me to constantly ask what would Jesus do? What would God say? Does this go against the two great commands? I believe this a season in my life where God is making me aware of things and is teaching and equipping for spiritual warfare. I pray that as I learn I will not only fight the good fight on my behalf, but I would fight on the behalf of others too. I pray that all that I do will bring glory, honor, and praise to God. Amen.
Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour. 1 Peter 5:8, For we do not wrestle against, flesh and blood, but against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual host of wickedness in heavenly places. Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all to stand. Ephesians 6:12-13, Therefore submit to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you. James 4:7,
