I have a lot of growing to do and I always will. Who I am in Jesus Christ today will not be the same as who I am a year from now or when I finally go home to be with Him forever. I do belive I will get better as I go along though.

Help Me Grow

Lord help me to grow to be more like You.

Lord help me to see as you do.

Help me to love as my Father above.

Cause my walk and my talk to resemble You whom I love.

Lord teach me to be loyal, faithful and true.

Lord help me to grow to be more like You.

Silverware

We had a pretty set of silverware with green handles, but the handles came loose and some fell off. Now we are looking for some new silverware. Some people call it flatware but I grew up calling any kind of fork, knife, and spoon set silverware whether it was made of silver or not. Today when I asked God what He wanted to talk about He brought up silverware. First I have the knife; it is used to cut food, spread food like butter on bread and can be used to hold food in place so I can get it on to my fork. Then I have the spoon; it is used for stirring coffee, tea, etcetera, it's also used for eating soup, cereal, other soft foods and some desserts. Then I have the fork; it is used for eating solid foods that you can stick a fork into. So what's so spiritual about a knife? I wont say the usual that it is like a two edge sword that pierces and heals. What I will say is that sometimes when I study God's word I need to cut it up so I can digest it. By this I mean that I break down chapters into verses and some times I break down verses into a line or two because it makes me focus better on what is being said. If  I just read a whole chapter straight through I miss a lot! same goes for verses. For me the spreading part reminds me that sometimes I have to look for related scriptures that are spread through out the bible if I want to gain more insight. Also when I over lay stories or events that are spread through out the bible I get a little more insight. Now comes the spoon like the spoon. Like the spoon when it stirs cream into coffee they become thoroughly blended so you can't separate them. So must the word of God and the Holy Spirit be stirred up in me so that I become blended into Jesus Christ's likeness. Also like a spoon I need to be able to hold small amounts of God's word to feed to baby Christians, and large amounts of  God's word to feed to older Christians, and an inviting taste of  God's word to feed to non-Christians.  Now for the fork it reminds me that I need to desire the solid food of God and not just eat the baby food all the time. Using my fork takes practice I have to learn not to take scripture out of context, or twist it to suit me and more.

Remind them of these things, charging them before the Lord not to strive about words to no profit, to the ruin of the hearers. Be diligent to present yourselves approved to God, a worker who does not need to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth. 2 Timothy 2:14-15, Feed my sheep John 21:15-17, But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be witnesses to Me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.
