Thank You Lord for such a rich heritage and such an abundant life. Amen
A Salvation Song
I couldn't believe You called me back Home,
After how far I had roamed.
I couldn't believe that You wanted me,
After all I said and done to thee.
But when I heard You call in reply as I cried,
I turn to see You reaching out to me drawing me to Your side.
And I melted. I feel down on my knees.
My tears of sorrow and shame
pelted the ground like rain,
I hear angels shout hallelujah she finally sees!
I am so glad I asked You into my heart that day.
I am so glad You came into my life to stay.
My prayer O Lord is keep me don't let me stray.
I love You Lord and I want to walk Your way.
Becoming more like You each day.
I want to walk Your way.
Heritage
I have been away for the last week and a few days. My husband and I took our school bus (which is converted into a mobile home) out for vacation. He was born in California and every year we go camping, so we thought we would explore the Northern California coast. This is part of his heritage in a way. To me heritage is your roots, who you are, where you come from, and all the back ground stuff from as far back as anyone in your family can remember or dig up until now. The bible is full of information about our heritage as Christians. I am a romantic and love to read about how couples in the bible came to be. Such as Isaac and Rebekah, Jacob and Rachel, Boaz and Ruth. These are stories about some of the Israelite family heritage. Today children don't always ask how mom and dad met, or how granddad and grandma met. It is up to each of us to pass this along (aunts, uncles can pass down stories too). The bible tells about the struggle, roots and people that God chose to be His people. We need to pass on to the children the story of our struggle that led us to be rooted in Christ. They need to hear about who we are and where we come from physically and spiritually. Heritage is very valuable and enriching. The stories in the bible don't always tell of happy lalala back grounds some of the old testament leaders were stinkers. But by telling the good along with the bad the children of Israel learned about themselves and why they were the way they were and how they got to be where they are and more. Knowing ones heritage may even help one to see that a nagging sin is something that has been in their family for a long time. This might then give one the wisdom and strength to say it stops here with me. I thank God that not only has He adopted me into His family but, that He has given me a written account of that heritage. He has also given me peace with the bad side of my physical family heritage and I have benefited from it. I am also glad for the enrichment I have received from the good side as well.
Then he spoke to the children of Israel, saying: "When your children ask their fathers in time to come, saying, 'What are these stones?' "Then you shall let your children know, saying,' Israel crossed over this Jordan on dry land'; "that all the peoples of the earth may know the hand of the Lord, that it is mighty, that you may fear the Lord your God forever." Joshua 4:21-22,24
