Getting To Know You
Getting to know you getting to know all about you. I love this song from the King and I movie. Right now that line applies to a situation I am in. I am in a new church with lots of new brothers and sisters in Jesus. I am very happy and excited about getting to know them as individuals and as a church family. But today as I was thinking about this I started thinking about when I first came into the family of God for the first time. After I accepted Jesus I received brothers and sisters that I didn't have before. I became a member of God's wonderful family. My life has been growing, and changing because of Him and them; and I give thanks! Life with God and my brothers and sisters in Jesus has also been exciting and rewarding. I have people who really care and stay with me through good times and bad! But I have also been adopted into a larger family than that! When I accepted Jesus; God adopted me into His family that He start way back in the beginning of time to this present day! I am so grateful for God's word that helps me to get to know about them too. When He adopted me I inherited not only a new family but a new historical back ground as well. As I read the bible I tell my self because of Jesus this is now part of my history too. And like any adopted child who feels loved; I get excited reading about my immediate family ( Father God, Jesus, and The Holy Spirit). The good news is I don't have to just read about my Father, Jesus and The Holy Spirit I can talk to them too. When I accepted Jesus I not only got a chance to live a new life but, to live with a new family as well (brothers and sisters in Jesus). I only pray that I will be a good family member and make everyone feel loved and cared for. I pray I will bless and help anyone I meet who is part of the family of God. To be a part of the family of God all you have to do is accept Jesus, confess to Him your wrongs, repent of sin, and love the family of God and the lost. I love God's family because it is centered in His love. He is the Father and He is the one who corrects and changes us. That doesn't me we ignore each other it means if we love each other we try to help each other in loving ways. It means that we are not easily offended by each other and if we are offended we forgive quickly. It means that even if one of us stops loving the other one continues to love. It means to respect each other, commit to one another, to cherish, love, protect, and to serve one another. And as I grow in this family I am sure I will learn a lot more about what it means to be part of the family of God.
