I must drop everything and empty myself out and wait on the Lord if I truly want to be refreshed. It is yucky to keep stale stuff in a basket and then put fresh stuff in with it.
A Prayer For Refreshing
Lord I have been traveling this road so long.
My food has gotten stale and I lost my song.
I am not as strong as I use to be.
Lord please come and refresh me.
I have laid down everything for You.
I patiently wait for You to help me start anew.
I wait for a new song and new provisions.
I wait for Your guidance in all my new decisions.
I wait for new strength to come from You.
I wait for You to blow new life in me as only You can do.
This Lord is my prayer.
I know You hear and You care.
And I thank You Lord for all You do.
And I pray with all my being I will glorify You. Amen
A Switch In Time Is Devine
Sometimes I go along in ruts way to long. If I stay in a rut long enough I loose some of my creativity, I miss out on doing new things, or even things I should do. Take my house cleaning rut, sometimes it keeps me tied to the house. This in turn keeps me from being around people, which keeps me from touching someone for God. If I would just change my schedule a little every now and then this would change. There are lots of little ruts I fall into and lots of things I miss because I fall into these ruts. The rut of taking the same path all the time, doing things the same way all the time, and more. In my spiritual life I have recently become aware of a rut. For me this was in the area of bible study and devotions. Every morning I study out of four different bibles, and two different booklets, pray for one person or family from my stack of last years Christmas cards, and for one person or family on my list of people who I have written down (This list consist of people I have met over the years). The Holy Spirit has been faithful to use this time to teach me and God has faithfully answered many a prayer. But last night or early this morning while have asleep He spoke to me about this rut I had gotten into. He showed me that I had become a little slower and duller in my learning. He also showed me that this unsettled and unsatisfied feeling I had in my walk with Him, and in the grasping of His word and applying it to my life was due partly to this rut. I will put all my bibles and books away; and wait for Him to tell me what to study. I will wait for Him to help me make a new prayer list. I will wait for Him to guide me into new daily devotions. I am excited because I don't know what to expect! I know I can trust Him. Because I know Him, I know He wont let me stray away from His word. So I know the bible will be involved. I look forward to a closer walk with Him and a better walk for me! What have I got to loose but sin, feeling out of step, and other yucky things. Hurray! You may ask how many ways can you study or pray or do daily devotions. The Lord is limitless and so are His ways!
Wait on the Lord; be of good courage, and He shall strengthen your heart; wait, I say on the Lord! Psalm 27:14, For this is our God, Our God for ever and ever; He will be our guide even to death. Psalm 48:14, Show me Your ways, O Lord; teach me Your paths. lead me in Your truth and teach me, For You are the God of my salvation; on You I wait all the day. Psalm 25:4
