Reading God's word aloud benefits me, and I am sure as a father like to hear his child read so does my Heavenly Father.

A Declaration Of Love Of God's Word And A Prayer

Lord how I love to read Your word aloud.

It chases away the darkness and lifts life's gloomy cloud.

Lord how I love to hear Your words in my ears.

Sometimes it brings me sorrow and sometimes joyful tears.

Lord I love to read all about You, Your might, glory, wisdom, faithfulness and truth.

Also about all the people like Abraham, Paul, and Ruth.

Lord I love to meditate on Your word day and night.

For my heart yearns to be like You, I long to do what's right.

Lord hear this prayer of gratitude for eyes to see and ears to hear Your word the bible.

I pray I obey it all and fan the flames of revival.

Help me to be a doer of Your word and not a hearer.

Help me each day to understand and hear more clearer.

Give me wisdom, and strength to obey Your commands.

Give me more of You O Lord that I may touch others with Your hands.

I pray that I will encourage others to read Your word too.

That they may see You my Lord and praise You for all You do. Amen

Read To Me

I don't have a child of my own to read to, yet I have read to more children than I can remember. At the beginning of the school year I started baby sitting. I watch a little girl for about an hour each day then walk her to the school bus stop and watch her get on. She is in about first grade and she reads exceptionally well. Every now an then I get a treat, she reads to me. I help her with really big words and I patiently wait before offering that help. I have been reading my bible aloud every morning for the past 14 years. I am alone when I read or so it would seem. Yet the bible says there is a cloud of witnesses. Also Jesus said He would never leave me. And that the Holy Spirit is with me to teach me. And God is all knowing, seeing, hearing, and everywhere. So today I was thinking about how they hear me, it's kind of like I read to them everyday. What patience they must have with me as I stumble over all those names that I have no idea how to pronounce. I try to sound them out but it's another language so just imagine. I believe that every time I read things over and over again I gain more insight. Also that the things I read about get written deeper in my heart and mind. Sometimes when I read the bible aloud it is almost like hearing someone else reading a diary, or a journal, or as if someone else is telling a story of their history. I don't mean my voice changes it just seems different. I also noticed different ways I read bring different meaning to passages; depending of  my mood, attitude, tone. I try to imagine myself a the writer or the people I am reading about and this too sheds a different light on the meaning of passages. Sometimes reading the bible I can almost see the people, places, and objects I read about. Sometimes I get glimpses of  God, Jesus, Holy Spirit, angels, heaven, and more! I am thankful that I can read the bible. Some day my eye sight may be gone then I pray God will send someone to read the bible to me. A day with out the bible is missing a vital part, and just don't feel as good.

But be doers of the word and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves. For if anyone is a hearer of the word and not a doer, he is like a man observing his natural face in a mirror; for he observes himself, goes away, and immediately forgets what kind of man he was. James 1:22-24, But his delight is in the law of the Lord, and in His law he meditates day and night. Psalm 1:2, So He humbled you, allowed you to hunger, and fed you with manna which you did not know nor did your fathers know, that He might make you know that man shall not live by bread alone; but man lives by every word that proceeds from the mouth of the Lord. Deuteronomy 8:3
