A Prayer For Today
Good morning Lord. Thank You for this new day.
Forgive me all my sins. Have over me perfect sway.
Walk with me now all day through.
May my path be guided by You.
Help me to hear Your voice.
Help me make Your will my choice. Amen
Today
Today. What a wonderful word! What a wonderful gift. Each time I open my eyes to a new one I am thankful. I look forward to what each day will bring. Each day can be viewed as another chance at life. I no longer say, "if only I knew then what I know now." Just knowing what I know now and living in today is wonderful. Why do I feel this way about toady? Because I serve a loving, merciful, great, and awesome God; who greets me each day and says, "Lets start here anew and a fresh." So we wipe my slate clean during my morning prayer time. Then we seize the day. All day long He helps me fight my inner and outer battles, cleanses me, heals me, guides me, and so much more. And when today is over I discard it as an old garment, close my eyes in sleep, and await His greeting again. I see now it is foolish to carry things one day into the next. Things do a good enough job of showing up each day on their own. It is ok to prepare or plan for tomorrow or the future with an attitude of if the Lord is willing I will do such and such. If I am going to plan for tomorrow or the future, it should be with the mind set that each day is a new day, a new beginning. Each day is I can bring the wisdom I have learned from the day before but not the garbage. Each day I can look forward to the future but, I must not on ahead of God. I can tell if I am carrying garbage from the past or run to far into the future. Because when I do I have these symptoms: worry, melancholy, stress, depression, and such. They are filled with could have, should have, would have, wish I could, what ifs, and feelings of sadness, and being over whelmed. So have a great day, cast it off before bed, and sweet dreams, good night.
But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things will be added unto you. Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about its own things. sufficient for the day is its own trouble. Matthew 6:33-34,
