Do I resemble my spiritual family? Do I look at all like my heavenly Father, Jesus, or the Holy Spirit? I pray every day I will grow more and more to resemble them. And as I do grow in that way; I pray it will make others to be hungry to be part of this family too. Amen

A Family Prayer

What a wonderful gift You have given.

That I be part of the family of heaven.

Help me Father to look more like You.

I want to be loving and forgiving too.

Help me look more like Your Son.

Caring and compassionate toward every one.

Help me look like the Holy Spirit too.

Always teaching and guiding others to You.

Help us all to look as Your family should.

Never wearying of doing right and good. Amen.

Family Resemblance

My earthly brothers and sister look a lot like each other, and like our father. None of the look anything like me or our mother. I know a teacher here at the school who adopted a child. The child looked so much like her, and her husband, that I would not have known except she told me. Sometimes family members resemble each other in other ways too. They sometimes sound alike, or have similar actions, food preferences, and more. I am learning as a Christian that I should have some resemblance to my brothers and sister in Jesus. Because after all we are all trying to become more like Jesus. So we should resemble each other more and more as we grow. Just like in earthly families we all have our own style, traits, and things that make us individuals. But we should also have a lot about us that lets others know we are part of the same family. I should all have enough love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control; that people will know I am a member of the family of God. People should see the resemblance between me and the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit too. As I show mercy, forgiveness, helpfulness, concern, and more. These are a few of the things that they do that I try to imitate because I love their ways. As I grow in Jesus and start to look more like Him, I should also start to look more like my brothers and sisters too. Just like in earthly families we wont all grow up and do these same things. Some of us will grow in Jesus and become pastors, Sunday school teachers, parents, doctors, and what ever else God will call us to be. But the similarities will still be there. Those things about us that lets people know we belong to the family of God.

For this reason I bow my knees to the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, from whom the whole family in heaven and earth is named, that He would grant you, according to the riches of His glory, to be strengthened with might through His Spirit in the inner man, that Christ may richly dwell in your hearts through faith; that you, being rooted and grounded in love, may be able to comprehend with all the saints what is the width and length and depth, and height--- to know the love of Christ which passes knowledge; that you may be filled with all the fullness of God. Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us, to Him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus throughout all ages, world with out end. Amen. Ephesians 3:14-21
