From the cradle to the grave People can teach and people can learn.

A Teachers Prayer

Lord I want to be a good teacher like You.

I want to love them and help them to follow You too.

Give me patience, love and understanding.

Give me wisdom and help me not to be demanding.

Help me not to think more highly of my self than I should.

Help me to encourage them and tell them they are doing good.

Help me to admit when I am wrong and to quickly seek what is right.

May this example make them strong and keep them headed for Your light.

Teachers

Most of the time when I think of teachers, I think of the ones here on campus. These teachers teach high school and junior high school children. Then I think of teachers that teach middle school, elementary, and preschool. That spans a lot of age groups. Parents are teachers too. They teach their children from the cradle to the grave. Every one is a potential teacher and many are potential students. In order to be a good student one must be willing to learn. But to be a good teacher takes a lot more than being willing to each. A good teacher doesn't just shove facts and figures in front of a student. A good teacher presents things to a student. A good teacher seeks ways to help students grasp understanding and put it to use as soon as possible. Teacher such as parents and others who spend a great deal of time are able to find ways to teach the individuals that are best suited to them. Good teachers stimulate and inspire their students. Most teachers teach more than just facts and figures. The teach attitudes, skills, and so much more. Good teachers are willing to admit they could be wrong, they display the right attitude when they are wrong and they show students how to take steps towards what is right. They show kind, loving helping spirit towards students when they are wrong and with patience they help them seek what is right. There is so much to being a good teacher that I can't mention it all here. I have lots of good examples about being a good teacher as I read about Jesus, The Holy Spirit and God. A good earthly teacher is not better than their student they just know more and in some cases have more authority. But in God's eyes they are equal. Both teacher and student need to show each other kindness, respect, a willingness to give and receive. They need to be patient with each other and quick to forgive one another. I at times am a teacher as I share things God has taught me and gifts or talents He has given me. I also teach others about Him as the opportunity arises. I am a student all the time as I learn from God, Jesus, The Holy Spirit, my husband, pastor, church, my friends, and strangers. I learn from people no matter what the age. From babies I learn about trust, and trying new things. From children I learn about acceptance, love, and courage. From teens about believing in myself, and others. Form young men and woman about hope, and looking forward to a future. From middle aged people about unity, and caring. From elderly people I learn about wisdom, and peace. From every one at every age I also learn something about God.
