God sure does teach a lot about safety. But it wont do me any good unless I heed it or practice it.
A Prayer Song
Lord Help me keep my eyes on You today.
Lord help me stay out of Your way.
Make my ears to hear clearly Your voice.
Make Your will my choice.
Because I love You I long to obey.
Come Lord in me have Your way.
Draw me to my knees and draw me near to You.
Fill my heart and lips with Your words faithful and true.
Burst me to over flowing with Your story.
That everyone I meet may know Your glory.
Fill me with You through and through.
So that I will do unto others as You would do. Amen
Safety
When I was growing up our school had fire drills. They tried to teach us to stay calm, and follow the teacher out in an orderly manner. They also gave us a designated place to stand. So we would be out of the way, and so the teacher could make sure we were all present. We also had air raid drills. These were to help us stay calm and quickly obey the teacher. We were told to get on our knees under our desks and cover our eyes. This was to protect us from debris and protect our eyes from the flash that would blind us. We were also taught not to talk to or accept candy from strangers. Later as we got older we were taught basic first aid. They taught us to be calm and what to do and what not to do. Like mouth to mouth, how to do a tourniquet, how to do a bandage, and more. God teaches me about safety too. Like in all those situations I just mentioned the first thing He teaches me is to stay calm. He teaches me to watch and follow Him in an orderly manner. He has given me a designated place to go. (The cross) Where I can get out of the way and where He can see that I am present. Because if I weren't turned to Him whole heartedly I wouldn't be there. He teaches me to obey him quickly. He teaches me to get on my knees and come under His covering for protection. He teaches me to shield or guard my eyes from trashy, flashy, things that might blind and lead me away from Him. He teaches me to be careful of people who are strangers to Him and His ways. He teaches me to not argue with them, or allow their words to lead me astray. He teaches me to not let them tempt me with sweet words or goodies of the world. He teaches me first aid skills like mouth to mouth ( let His words breath life into others). Or how to apply a tourniquet (comfort those in sorrow with love, understanding, and God's word). Or how to do a bandage (before you apply the bandage wash the wound with prayer and gently apply the soothing balm of God's word, wrap a wound with love, kindness, help, understanding). God is good He teaches me to be alert to the danger of sin trying to creep in. He teaches me to be watchful and aware for my good and the good of those around me.
Watch and pray, lest you enter into temptation. The spirit is willing but the flesh is weak. Matthew26:41, Watch stand fast in the faith, be brave, be strong 1 Corinthians 16:13, But the end of all things is at hand; therefore be serious and watchful in Your prayers. And above all things have fervent love for one another, for love will cover a multitude of sins. 1 Peter 4:7-8, Blessed are those servants whom the Master, when He comes, will find watching. Assuredly, I say to you that He will grid Himself and have them sit down to eat, and will come serve them. Luke 12:37
