Am I judgmental or using right judgment? Or am I using discernment? How can I tell which I am doing? By how it affects others.

A Prayer/ Song For Guidance

Lord guard my heart and my mind.

Fill them with wisdom and love and make me kind.

Lord help me discern right and wrong.

Lord help me walk in all Your ways and be strong.

Give me I pray a Christ like mind.

Help me to not rush into things blind.

Lord help me with my decisions every day.

Don't allow pride and prejudice to get in the way.

Help me to always think of others.

Help me to always be considerate of my sisters and brothers.

May all I say and do harm or hinder no one.

But may it always bless them and lead them to Your Son. Amen

Here Comes The Judge

Here comes the judge, here comes the judge. No this is not Rowan and Martins laugh-in. And no this is not about a court room. Would you believe me if  I said it is about me every day? Every day I have to look at things and determine if they are good or bad right or wrong; in order for me to make the right response. I have to determine not only a good, Godly, right response to situations but to people as well. God has taught me that there is a difference between doing that and being judgmental. Most of the time being judgmental is negative, prejudice, and destructive. God is teaching me to be careful as to what kind of judge I am. Judge not, that you be not judged. For with what judgment you judge, you will be judged; and with the same measure you use, it will be measured back to you. Matthew 7:1 So I ask God for wisdom and understanding that I might make right judgment calls, and discern things properly or rightly. So I can make a right choice, decision, or response. Not so I can influence others but so I can do what's right. I believe that there is only one right, true, just, judge and that is God. Oh, the depth of riches both of the wisdom and knowledge of God! How unsearchable are His judgments and His ways past finding out! Romans 11:33 Some things to consider when making a judgment is: "Do I have all the facts?" "Am I prejudice?" "Will my judgment be clouded by emotions?" "Will my decision harm anyone in any way?" "Who will it affect and how?" Do not judge according to appearance, but judge with righteous judgment. John 7:24 Making judgments about situations and things in order to do right is really called discernment. For this task I must ask God daily for spiritual wisdom and understanding. But the natural man does not  receive the things of the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him; nor can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned. But he who is spiritual judges all things, yet he himself is judged by no one. For who has known the mind of the Lord that he may instruct Him? But we have the mind of Christ. 1 Corinthians 2:14-16  Teach me good judgment and knowledge, for I believe Your commandments. Psalm 119:6 Another thing I have learned about being a good judge is to ask the question "How does this appear in the light of I Corinthians 13:1-8? Because with out the love of God ruling in my heart I am nothing, and can do nothing right, nor make right decisions, judgments, or discernments.
