Help Lord words fly and deeds are done before one realizes the real impact. Help me Lord to be aware that I hate sin and evil and not the person. Help me keep that door open that they may repent and give their lives to You. Help me to realize that I even though I am not the enemy I can still be used by him. Help me Lord to do what is right and over come evil with Good. Amen. 

A Prayer To Recognize the Enemy

 Evil and sin are my enemy and surely not my brother.

Help me Lord to tell one from the other.

When painful words rain upon me hurting my heart.

Help me to stop and recognize my true enemy before my lips throw a fiery dart.

When evil words or deeds are said and done before me.

Open up my eyes to the truth of who is the real enemy.

I don't want to lose a friend or an opportunity,

By foolish words or deeds done by the enemy through me. Amen

Enemy Mine

Enemy Mine is a science fiction movie about an alien and a person at war. They both get shot down and end up on the same planet in the same area. At first there is hatred and eventually they realize no one is coming to get them and take them home. Then they start to need each other and very slowly they build up trust. Then as they get to know each other, and gain understanding of each other, they become close friends. I wont tell exactly how the story ends incase some one wants to see it. But this movie reminds me that we are at war with sin and the evil one. Sometimes we are around people who appear to be our enemy. They are alienated too, and therefore, we are at odds with them. Sometimes even our Christian friends can seem alien to us and we can end up at odds with them as well. In some of these cases bitterness and hatred creep in. This is wrong. The truth is, it is the sin and the evil one in their lives we hate. It's the sin and the evil one that causes the bitterness between us an others. This is why I must not allow my mind, mouth, and flesh to react first and think about the situation later. I must stop long enough to remind myself , it is not the person  I am upset with, or against, but their actions or words. Non- Christians, like the alien in the movie, have had a long time of  training, and input, to set them against those they believe to be their enemy. We as well have had the same training. Only sometimes I forget who the enemy really is. This is very sad because it causes me to say and do things that could keep me from ever being that persons friend, which could forever taint our relationship. It also may sometimes puts up walls that keeps people from receiving Jesus or makes it take longer. So I must remember my enemy is sin, satan, my flesh, and my mind but, not people. Because if  I can fight the disease, and the cause of the disease, then I have hopes of curing the patient. Even if I am the patient.

But he who hates his brother is in darkness, and darkness walks in darkness, and does not know where he is going, because the darkness has blinded his eyes. 1 John 2:11, Do not be over come by evil, but over come evil with good. Romans 12:21, But as for you brethren, do not grow weary in doing good. And if anyone does not obey our word in this epistle, note that person and do not keep company with him, that he may be ashamed. Yet do not count him as an enemy, but admonish him as a brother. 2 Thessalonians 3:13-15
