New Lease On Life

Geritol and lot's of  other companies offered medicine, vitamins, or what have you that give you a "New lease on life." For the a "New lease on life" meant more energy, pep, vim, and vigor. However if you want a real new lease on life come to Jesus. He makes us a new creation, old things pass away and all things become new. 2 Corinthians 5:17 There are some days when I don't look, feel, or smell very new. Those days happen the most when I haven't spent time with God, Jesus, the Holy Spirit, or in the bible or in prayer. I am still new in Jesus, still saved, still walking in grace, still living in the gift of God eternal life through Jesus. But something has gone stale, flat, I need a "new lease on life". Then I remember that even though I am reconciled to God through Jesus; I am still being changed from day to day. Parts of my old self still have to be dealt with. Romans 8:1-17, Galatians 5:16-26 Then I turn to the Holy Spirit for a "new lease on life". No this doesn't make me any more saved than I was. Nor does it mean that Jesus isn't enough. It is an extension of  God and Jesus precious gifts to me through the third person of the trinity. It is a fulfillment  of  God and Jesus promise to send me a Helper. John 14:15-18, John 15:26-27, John 14:26 The Holy Spirit helps me with the big things and the small, the physical and the spiritual. When I fully submit myself to Him with a willing and teachable spirit, open and obedient to Him wow! Suddenly I do get a "new lease on life"! I see things differently, I understand things differently! Things that looked impossible suddenly become possible! Things that loomed up scary before me suddenly don't seem so bad! Suddenly my dull heart sings songs to God! May dazed, sleepy, in a rut self; is suddenly alive! I could go on and on! But it all boils down to this. In a slump? In a rut? Overwhelmed? Need a new lease on life? Go spend sometimes with the Holy Spirit. Submit yourself to Him. Be teachable and open.  Real listen to Him. Learn to know His voice. Be willing to obey all He tells you to do. Spend time with Him in prayer and the word. Allow Him to use you. Allow Him fill you and flow through you. Spend time with Him in praise and worship.
