God You know me better than I know myself. I am determined to call on You and I will set my will to obey You. Help me to over come all that is not of You that is in me. In Jesus name I ask. Amen

A Daily Cry For Help

Evil, anger, and foolish pride,

sticks like thorns in the side.

Come Lord Jesus and over ride,

these things in me and change the tide.

Those are only to name a few.

But I know nothing is impossible for You.

So I'll call on You every day.

Lord come quick and chase all the evil away.

I know the battles not my own.

I know that I don't fight alone.

I know Your always by my side.

I know there's no shame in running into You to hide.

Over Ride

It seems like I hear the phrase "over ride" a lot on space sci-fi movies. Sometimes I hear it in war pictures too. The ones that say it are usually asking if  a machine function can be over ridden. And it is usually because an enemy has gotten control over a machine or vessel. It is a way to get around the problem and get control over the machine or vessel again. As a Christian I constantly have to over ride my mind, flesh, and emotions. Because sometimes the devil tries to take control over my words and deeds. My way of over ridding my mind and flesh is by speaking to the problem. Like when my mind and flesh start to get angry for no right reason. I sometimes have to say out loud to my mind and flesh, "no I refuse to do this, or to be angry." I start to sense the power of God strengthening me to set my will to do or say what is right. You see in the movies the person asked to over ride a vessel or machine is usually the mechanic. This is because he knows the vessel or machine better than anybody. God knows me and my vessel better than anybody including me!  I ask Him to help me over ride my mind and my flesh and even my will, so that Him and I can stay in control of it. He is faithful. He comes and helps me right away. But if I don't ask Him for help and try to over ride my mind, flesh, and will all by myself  I fail. Anger is only one of the things I need His help over ridding. There are many others like deceit. After all a little white lie no matter how small is still a lie. Lust is another. Lust doesn't have to mean sex, it can be lust after material things too. Idol worship means anything that you love more than God. But as I said If I set my will and call on God to over ride me and my vessel He will. Also like in the sci-fi movies the person who is doing the over ride sometimes says, "it will take time". Sometimes I have to be patient. God doesn't always over ride me or my vessel right away. Also the person in the movie that ask for the over ride usually says, "that's ok do what you can or do the best you can." I don't say that to God who is doing the over riding. But God always tells me to "hang in there and do the best you can while I help you." That reminds me that Jesus being the Master also was a servant. But that's another insight for another time.

But to many as receive Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, even to those who believe in His name: who were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God. John 1 : 12-13, And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God. Romans 12:2
