Preventive medicine, and medicine being taken for an illness wont do me any good if I don't use it. This is true of spiritual and physical medicine. Physicians can't help me if I don't go seek their/His help. This is true of physical physicians and The Great Physician.

The Great Physician

When I am sick at heart you are there.

Mending where my heart is torn.

When I am sick with sin you care.

You've never left me sick and dieing since I've been born.

You've healed my heart, You've healed my mind,

You've healed my eyes I am no longer blind.

You've cared for me.

I want all to see.

What the Great Physician's done for me.

I pray that all will come to you to.

That they may know the Joy and health as I do.

That they may know the healing touch that comes only from you.

Sick And In Health

I  don't get sick very often. When I do get sick, I like to look for the cause in hopes of preventing it the next time. I am into preventive medicine. I try to eat right, take vitamins, exercise, and practice good hygiene. There is also such a thing as spiritual sickness, which I try to avoid. Hate, anger, and bitterness can cause a cancer that eats the soul. I try to avoid this by calling upon God's help and dealing with it quickly. Love and forgiveness is very powerful medicine in this case. So I try daily to take a large dose, by asking God to give me a heart like His. Depression can also make ones soul sick, and can spiritually drag others down too. Once again I call on the Great Physician for help. This is such a personal illness that only time with Him seems to be able to help me. Laughter and singing hymns seems to be good preventive medicine for this. It also helps ease the pain to laugh and sing. Even if  I don't feel like it I start singing or look for something to laugh about and soon I feel a little better. Sin is another for of illness that leads to death. It is caused by many things adultery, lying, stealing, and all other ungodly actions the bible has a list so I can look up the cause of my disease. How do I know I am sick? Disease (dis at  ease) I know right from wrong and I don't feel right when I do wrong. The Holy Spirit also lets me know. When I have this illness I call on God for help. Repenting, receiving forgiveness, and letting go is required medicine for this illness. My preventive medicine for the illness of sin is study God's word, and to ask God to help me slow down and think before I speak or act. I also ask Him to help me hear and obey the Holy Spirit. I still get sick sometimes but not as bad as I did before I met Jesus and not as often. Spiritual sickness also can come out in the form of physical sickness and can be contagious and can affect others in other ways. There are other Spiritual sicknesses that I didn't mention because it's such a long list.

When Jesus heard that, He said to them, "Those who are well have no need of a  physician, but those who are sick." Matthew 9:12 That it might be fulfilled which was spoken by Isaiah the prophet saying: "He Himself took our infirmities and bore our sicknesses".  Matthew 8:17 A merry heart does good, like a medicine, but a broken spirit dries up the bones. Proverbs 17:22
