How Quickly I Forget
It has been very hot lately and I found myself complaining about the heat. I had forgotten how cold my childhood winters had been and how I had said, "I never want to be that cold ever again!" So I moved from Delaware to California. I am tired of watering my garden. So I found myself complaining and saying, "I wish it would rain." I had forgotten how just a few weeks ago when it did rain a little I grumbled about having to put towels on the window sills to soak up the leaks. I also had forgotten how last winter I wondering when the rain was ever going to quit. I know this forgetfulness falls into other areas of my life as well. As a matter of fact from now on when I start to complain I think I will see if I am forgetting something. I hope I never forget how life was before Jesus. sometimes I have talked about how things were better way back when. They weren't better and pondering on just the parts that I considered to be the good stuff is not right. I need to every now and then look at it all; so I wont be so quick to forget what Jesus has done for me. I can examine the parts of my past that was good and give it to God and He and I can use it now. I can look at the bad parts and learn from them and give them to God and He and I can take what I learned and use it now. I can look at the good and bad parts and see how God was with me all the time even then. I can acknowledge that truth to God and He and I can use that truth now. I feel if I am forgetful and start to complain and grumble that's not good. I feel that if I become forgetful and long for something I shouldn't that's bad. I feel that if I am forgetful and become lacks in my gratitude to God that's worst. I pray my gratitude, and love for God grows hotter ever day. I pray that because of the passing of time it doesn't grow to be lukewarm or cold. But I not only want to not forget what Jesus did for me in my distant past. I don't want to forget what He did for me yesterday, this morning, and what He has and is doing about my future. I love the psalms and praise songs that tell of all the wonderful things God has done. I love to listen to and tell testimonies of wonderful things God has done. Better still I love to sing praises to God for all He has done.
Bless the Lord, O my soul; and all that is within me, bless His holy name! Bless the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all His benefits: Who forgives all your iniquities, who heals all your diseases, who redeems your life from destruction, who crowns you with loving kindness and tender mercies, who satisfies your mouth with good things, so that your youth is renewed like the eagle's. Psalm 102:28, Now to the King eternal, immortal, invisible, to God who alone is wise, be honor and glory forever and ever. Amen 1 Timothy 1:17, This is a faithful saying and worthy of all acceptance, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners, of whom I am chief. 1 Timothy 1:15, Thank You Lord for saving my soul. Thank You Lord for making me whole thank You Lord for giving to me Thy great salvation so rich and free. Amen
