Lord make me alert and prepared to toss someone a life preserver today. And keep me humble and grateful when someone tosses me one. Amen

A Prayer To Be A Help

Lord there are cries for help all through out the day.

Give me a heart of compassion and love don't let me walk away.

Give me a brave heart faithful strong and true.

Oh Lord Jesus fill me with Your love that I might do what You would do.

Help me reach the lost and dieing and bring them to You.

Help me touch the Christian crying and do as You would do.

Don't allow my pride to keep me from accepting help from those sent to me by You.

Keep me humble that I may remember to thank You and them too. Amen

Life Preserver

A life preserver is floatation device. On boats they are usually round with rope attached. On airplanes they are sometimes the seat cushions. Also airplanes have floatation vest. In rafting there is a long rope with a floating device on the end which you grab and someone pulls you in. There are other kinds of  life preservers in life too. A fireman is someone who saves lives, as is a policeman, and a doctor. Floatation devices do no good unless people know how use them and where to find them. Firemen, policemen, and doctors had to be trained to do what they do. As Christians we too have life preservers and are to be life preservers. We need to know where the life preservers are and how to use them. (Our preservers Jesus, prayers, and  scriptures) We need to be trained in how to preserve life. ( Our training comes from God, the bible, and church) We learn how to locate some of the life preserving scriptures by memorizing them and marking them in our bibles. When I was growing up we had a family bible. Children couldn't touch it, no one was allowed to make any marks in it and alas my parents didn't read it. So it collected dust. I still have respect for the bible, but I mark my up a lot, with notes and high lights, circles and stuff. It comes in handy when I want to or need to throw someone a life preserver. Prayer is an important life preserver. You can pray for or with someone and lead them to Jesus who will preserve their life. I am still a little shy praying out loud one on one and in some group situations. But when called upon to do so I jump in with both feet. My prayers may be full of stumbles and fumbles and groping but, I believe the only way to get better at it is to practice. And if someone else prays everything I would have there is no shame in keeping silent and agreeing with their prayer. Jesus is the life preserver and the only way I can toss Him out to a drowning soul is through how I live, what I say and do, through prayer and God's word. But people who are lost aren't the only ones who need a life preserver. Christians need them too. When they are drowning in anger, sorrow, bitterness, backsliding, and more. I just pray the Holy Spirit will keep me alert, prepared, and ready to meet those needs. I also pray that the Holy Spirit will keep me humble enough and wise enough to grab onto one when it is tossed to me. Amen

This is a faithful saying and worthy of all acceptance, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners, of whom I am chief. 1 Timothy 1 :15, Take heed to yourself and to the doctrine. Continue in them, for in doing this you will save both yourself and those who hear you. 1 Timothy 4:16, Let him know that he who turns a sinner from the error of his way will save a soul from death and cover a multitude of sins. James 5:20, But you, beloved, building yourselves up on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Spirit, keep yourselves in the love of God, looking for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ unto eternal life. And on some have compassion, making a distinction; but others save with fear, pulling them out of the fire, hating even the garment defiled by the flesh. Jude 23
