It is important to discover what lies beneath a situation, and to seek truth, and to look at hearts and not appearances. Because then I am better able to make wise and right choices and decisions. Also this applies to me too. I need to ask myself what are my motives, what is in my heart, and am I being truthful?
A Prayer For Sight And To Do Right
Lord have mercy on me.
Help me to see.
Don't allow evil to hide in my heart.
Help me to from wickedness depart.
Lord help me to see what lies beneath a word or a deed.
That I may choose wisely and avoid receiving a wicked seed.
Help me to see with Your eyes.
That I may know truth and be wise.
That I may see through evils disguise.
That I may help others to open their eyes.
Lord we need You to help us see clear.
Lord we need You to help us to hear.
Lord we need You to keep us near.
Lord because with You we need not fear.
With out You we can do nothing at all.
With out You we are destined to fall.
Full fill Your plan in us.
As we put our hearts in Your hands with trust. amen
What Lies Beneath
When I go camping I love to find places where I can see what lies beneath the water. Sometimes because I am afraid that what I cant see might hurt me when I step in. Sometimes like at oceans I am afraid because I cant see if I am going to drop off in a deep part over my head. If you don't know it yet let me tell you I am not a very good swimmer. Being able to see helps me to make careful decisions of where to step or what to do. Like when crossing a river when it is up to my knees or waste I need to see what rocks I can stand on. Other wise I may get my foot caught, or step in a hole and really get hurt or drown. Sometimes I like seeing what lies beneath the water just for the beauty of it. Like the colorful fish I saw in Hawaii, or the colorful stones I see in streams. God's word today in bible study taught me the importance of looking at what lies beneath. In His word He said don't look at the appearance, but to see as He sees the heart or what lies beneath. By looking at what lies beneath I can make wise choices and decisions. By what lies beneath I mean the motives or the heart of a person or a situation. Seeking the truth in situations and people will usually reveal the motive or heart. Then I am better able to make the right choice or response. But this applies to me too. I must search my heart and motives about what I do and say. By keeping an eye on them I can be more alert or aware when they are not right. Then I will be better able to choose to do rightly.
But the Lord said to Samuel, do not look at the appearance or at the height of his stature, because I have refused him. For the Lord does not see as man sees; for man looks at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart. 1 Samuel 16:7 Do you not yet understand that whatever enters the mouth goes into the stomach and is eliminated? but those things which proceed out of the mouth come from the heart, and defile a man. For out of the heart proceed evil thoughts, murders, adulteries, fornications, thefts, false witness, blasphemies. These are the things which defile a man, but to eat with unwashed hands does not defile a man. Matthew 15:17-20
